DREAMERS, TAKE ACTION!
Author: Nikkie Pryce
Publisher: Opportune Publishing
Genre: Self-help / Self-improvement / Self-motivation
I remember going through stages in my life where I had no money; I was broken in spirit and mind.
One day I realized in order to make more money and live the life I wanted, I had to start with myself.
I started reading tons of self-help books, prayed more and did affirmation exercises to lift my self-esteem. It was time to see growth.
If you are ready to challenge yourself and start seeing better results from your creative ideas, then this book is for you.
Dreamers, Take Action! is an actionable blueprint for creating the life you want.
This book is equipped with steps and daily challenges that I’ve taken to change a few needed things.
I’ve joined new networks with successful people, I’m finishing projects that I’ve started, and I am walking through open doors of lucrative opportunities, all by following one simple step.
That step is taking action.
Follow me into this journey as I vulnerably explain the road I took to get to where I am.
Hopefully, you’ll be inspired to work diligently to finish what you’ve started.
I trust that you’re ready to take that leap of faith.

“Don’t give up. Finish what you’ve started.”
That’s so hard to say, especially coming from a person like me. I’ve rarely ever finished anything that I’ve pursued in my life.
However, this time it is different.
I finished this assignment to create a life for the both of us. “Us” being the dreamers who have so much inside of our mind, body and soul, but were barely taught to manifest it to completion.
On my journey of being a dreamer, I realized that one thing was wrong: I was too busy dreaming, starting amazing ideas but not finishing the things I dreamt about.
Today, I pass down what I’ve learned. I pass down what I’ve encountered during this journey in hopes that you will use this book as a tool to not make the same mistakes that I made. Instead, use it to learn and reroute yourself onto the path to your success. I trust your ability just like I trust mine. Take this journey with me and let’s conquer together. We owe it to ourselves, and we only can imagine where it will take us.
The goal is to not get distracted for any reason. Focus on your dream and vision 1000%. Most importantly, don’t give up. Finish what you’ve started, just like I’ve finished this book! It took some time, prayer and focus, but we are here.
Let me show you how I did it. After this, pay it forward. Share your journey with those all around you so each of us can learn from each other and not make the same mistakes twice.
When I was offered the opportunity to read and review this book, I jumped on the chance. You see, my word for 2017 is Do! – and my phrase for the year is Stop Dreaming Start Doing, so the title alone had me from the start.
Let me tell you, this might be a small little book, but don’t let that fool you! There is a ton packed into it! I am normally a pretty fast reader, but I had to really take my time with this one.
I needed to take in what she was saying, and really think about it. So many times in this book, it seemed as though the author was speaking directly to me. So much of what she wrote, is me!
Anyway, this is the blueprint to go from dreamer to doer, for real! She lays out seven steps to get you from dreaming to doing. At the end of each step, she gives you a challenge to work on to reinforce what you have been learning during that step.
If you choose to read this book, I encourage you to have a pen and journal handy. I did, and I wrote copious notes:
All throughout, you will find many simple, yet very deep and thought provoking questions. I wrote many of them down in my Bujo to come back to again and again. I think they are great questions to be asking yourself on a regular basis.
Questions like these:
- What drives you to take action?
- What are you thinking about yourself?
- Who do you say you are?
- How does passion connect to purpose?
There are so many little gems scattered throughout.
Ms. Pryce writes in a conversational style and her words come across as genuine and caring. This is a little book, but they say, dynamite comes in small packages, and that’s exactly what this book is.
If you’re like me and spend most of your time dreaming up ideas and making plans but never getting around to executing them, then I highly recommend this book to you. It will give you a roadmap for taking action on some of those dreams.

The Lightning Dreamer is a wonderfully unique book that your family will absolutely love. It’s historical fiction told through poems written by Tula, the younger version of Cuba’s greatest abolitionist, Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda. Students will immediately connect with Tula’s story as she describes the injustices in her world including slavery, woman’s rights, arranged marriage, and freedom of speech. Your family will appreciate the real story of how Avellaneda and her brother, Manuel, teamed together to speak out against slavery. This is a perfect read aloud book for sixth graders because the entire novel is written in “verse” or short poems from the perspectives of different characters in the story. The points of view constantly shift, so you might assign different members in your family to read for different characters. The multicultural and historical aspects of this book and short verses make this book very accessible for both native Spanish speaking ESL students and native English speakers.
